There’s something wrong with the traditional MBA: it’s designed to help you master business, but it conspicuously leaves out a little thing called the Internet.
We’d like to correct that for you.
Offline’s Internet MBA Challenge is a series of three milestones that’ll take you from total internet newbie, never having sold anything online, to someone who’s collected real money from real people.
No matter what kind of business you want - a side hustle, a consulting business, online products, whatever - this challenge will help you get there.
Here’s the end goal of The Internet MBA Challenge: sell something to a total stranger for at least $1. That’s it. If you can get someone who you don’t know personally to pay you $1, you’ll get your (unofficial and unaccredited) Internet MBA.
The program is structured into 3 deceptively simple-but-difficult challenges.
Challenge #1: Get 10 Email Subscribers
You’ll start by going out and attracting - or directly asking - 10 people to be on an email newsletter that you’re creating. Sounds simple, but we promise it’ll bring up all manner of difficult questions and feelings.
Challenge #2: Send Marketing Emails to Your List
Now it’s time to talk to the people on your email list. You’ll send at least 1 email to them, but it’s best if you send emails regularly - say once a week. It’ll be up to you what’s in the emails, and what you ask recipients to do.
Challenge #3: Collect at Least $1 From 1 Person
We’re not asking you to become a millionaire as a result of this. The end goal is so much simpler than that: can you collect at least $1 from 1 person? Once you do, you’ll have completed the challenge.
Post Challenge: We Want to Hear From You
If you were wondering why we’re doing this for free, this is why. We want to help you, and we want to hear from you. We want to know how you like the challenge, what you accomplished, and what you learned along the way.
Who This Is For
This is for you if you want to up your business skills generally, but particularly if you want to up your Internet business skills. You must see a theme emerging by now.
More specifically, this is for you if:
You currently run a business and want to improve your online presence, marketing, and selling
You have an expertise-driven business and haven’t started your online marketing
You’re selling a service - some sort of freelancing or consulting - and you only work with 1 or 2 clients a year, and you want to diversify your client base
You like to learn new things, and you’re willing to push yourself through some difficulty
We’re told a fifth bullet should be here because the Internet likes it, but we weren’t sure what to write
What You’ll Get
When you sign up, you’ll get instant access to a Google Doc that outlines:
Each of the 3 challenges, with some very loose guidance for completing them

Who Made This
Hello there - we’re Philip Morgan and Liston Witherill, hosts of Offline. It’s a podcast about building a 100% remote expertise-driven business. On the podcast, we talk about the toughest things we’re grappling with, the things that scare the shit of us, and occasionally talk to friends who are doing the same things.
The Internet MBA Challenge was created during a passing moment on the show. One of our listeners suggested that they have an actual MBA and the thing that they were missing was how to do business online. The challenge was born.
